Lavender

Hidcote Blue English

Hidcote Lavender is a perfect addition to your hot and dry garden sites. This compact English Lavender is highly fragrant as expected and produces masses of deep purple-blue flowers. While the pollinators will love you for the sweet treats, the deer and rabbits will turn to find something else to munch on.

The key to growing Lavender in our Southern Region with our oppressive humidity is superior drainage on the root system. Plant the lavender with a bit of gravel or shock rock, sand and a handful of organic growing mix. Make sure to keep the top inch of the root ball above the soil level and mulch with a little stone. Water to get the plant established they back off watering as you begin to see the plant growing. Weekly watering should be adequate. Surprisingly, lavender thrives without the help of added fertilizers. It's a remarkable plant that really just needs very little attention as long as you provide the proper environment to grow.
