Growth Characteristics:
Patriot is a vigorous grower with striking contrast from deep green to the brilliant creamy white margins splashed on the leaf edges. Thrives in partial sun conditions but will tolerate more. Lavender flowers on 26-30" scapes will appear in late summer.
Care & Maintenance:
In our Southern Region with heavy clay soils it is necessary to amend the bed area to create planting spaces that are moist and well drained providing improved aeration for the root system. Most hostas will prefer shady, woodland areas but are often tolerant of morning sun conditions. Patriot is one of the varieties that will tolerate more sun and perform very well.
Hostas can be divided in either spring or fall but they can be left alone for years without much attention other than keeping the critters away.
